Equipment

If you have your own wheelchair, cane, or walker, you should bring it with you.  Be sure to label the item, keep the serial number, and add these items to the Inventory Sheet. Personal wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and other special equipment for the private use of the resident are the responsibility of the resident or representative (sponsor).  The Social Services Coordinator can provide you with information about renting and/or purchasing a wheelchair or walker, if needed.Furniture

The Johnson Center provides each resident room with a single bed, wardrobe, dresser, nightstand, and chair. If preferred, you may bring in a personal dresser, nightstand, or chair to replace the furniture we provide. Also, small furniture items, such as a bookshelf or desk are permitted, pending approval by the Director of Nursing or Assisted Living Coordinator.

Medications

Please do not leave any medications in your room.  Even over the counter items such as Bengayä, etc. must be ordered by the physician and can only be kept in your room with the physician's permission. Residents may not keep medications in their rooms unless so approved by the care planning team.  Please check with the nurses' station before leaving any salves, creams, drops, etc., with the resident. Personal Property

We encourage bringing personal items for your room (e.g. pictures for walls).  An inventory of personal belongings will be taken upon admission.  Please advise the staff when additional items are brought to the facility so they may be added to the inventory. We recommend leaving all valuables of sentimental or monetary value (i.e. jewelry, credit cards) with your responsible party.  The facility is not responsible for lost property.

Telephone and Television

Basic telephone services are provided by the facility at no additional charge. Long distance service, if used, will be included on your monthly statement.

The facility provides basic cable television services to every room.  However, televisions must be provided by your responsible party.  Be sure to label, add to the Inventory Sheet, and retain the serial number.  Additional cable channels can be ordered by calling the cable company at 1-800-367-6900.  Bills for extra services will be paid directly to the cable company.  Should a converter box be required, arrangements must be made with the cable provider. Items such as radios, televisions, clocks, etc. must be inspected by maintenance before being placed in the resident's room.

Do not leave valuables (i.e., money, jewelry, etc.) in the resident's room.  Deposit them in the safe in the Social Service Coordinator’s Office.
If you have any questions concerning this information, please refer your questions to the Director of Nursing Services, Assisted Living Coordinator, Social Services Coordinator, or the Assistant Administrator.
